H-D Forums Members Weigh In On New Heritage Classic Colors
Harley’s non-metallic Billiard colors cause some controversy, with fans on either side of the debate.
Late summer may mean that the riding season is winding down, but it’s also a time to get excited about next year’s new models. We love seeing the all-new bikes that Harley-Davidson will be releasing for next year.
However, we also enjoy seeing what new colors the crew in Milwaukee has selected for our favorite models. Classic colors like black and white never really go away, but it’s always interesting to see the rainbow of new colors they’ve selected for next year’s models.
H-D Forums member Daner started a thread about the 2020 Heritage Classic colors. He’s not a fan of the glossy, non-metallic “Billiard” colors that Harley-Davidson has been using lately as a complement to their flat, primer-like “Denim” colors.
Member skratch offers some perspective, pointing out that glossy, non-metallic colors are really popular for custom car builders and manufacturers alike these days. He adds that they look great in the sunlight, and we’re inclined to agree. When it comes to paint, what works on four wheels can work on two, in our opinion.
A few other members weigh in, and they all seem to like the Billiard colors as well. No sweat if you prefer bright, shiny metallic colors, though: among the six color choices available, two are sure to catch your eye.
Tahitan Teal, with its deep, ocean blue-green hue and light accent stripes, wouldn’t look out of place parked in front of your favorite tiki bar. If you’re a performance-minded Heritage Classic fan, there’s another option just for you.
If you opt for the big, bad 114 cubic inch Milwaukee 8 engine and swap chrome for blacked-out trim, you’re in for a treat. The two-tone Scorched Orange and Silver Flux paint works great with the black trim, in our opinion. It doesn’t get much more classic Harley-Davidson than that.
Now, some may disagree, but there is a pretty wide selection of colors available. Of course there’s Vivid Black, a Billiard Red and Vivid Black two tone, a deeper Vivid Maroon that looks great with vintage-style tank badges, and lastly, the subdued silver/grey two tone goodness of Silver Pine and Spruce.
What color is your favorite? Let us know in the forums!
