Crazy Clip of the Week: Stupid Motorcycle Stunt Sends YouTube Star to Hospital

Biker’s failed wheelie attempt ends with a broken ankle and some legal problems.

It goes without saying that performing any kind of motorcycle stunt is hard. Professional stunt riders spend years (and incur countless injuries) perfecting their craft. But they typically do so in a controlled environment where nobody but themselves can get hurt. And if they do, there’s professional medical help nearby. But some people choose to ignore these precautions and put themselves (and others) at risk.

Like YouTube sensation RPSTV, otherwise known as Jake Anthony Bigby. The 29-year old Central Florida resident has attracted over 100,000 followers by posting various videos of himself riding his bike on public roads, with little regard for his own safety or the safety of those around him. His latest motorcycle stunt not only landed Bigby in the hospital with a broken ankle, but it also attracted the attention of law enforcement officials.

Motorcycle Stunt

The video shows Bigby riding his bike on State Road 535 underneath the I-4 bypass in Orlando. He attempts a wheelie, but loses control and falls to the ground as his motorcycle launches in the air. Thankfully, no one else was hurt. But the same can’t be said for Bigby, who suffered a broken ankle and proceeded to take an inglorious ambulance ride.

News 6 also reports that the wannabe stunt rider is under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol for this and his previous videos. “He has no regard for anyone else out on the roadway,” FHP spokesman Steven Montiero told News 6.  “For him to build a fan base off of dangerous situations and disrespecting other drivers is just plain wrong.”

Despite all of that, Bigby doesn’t seem to have learned his lesson yet. He calls his stunts “calculated risks” and essentially blames the crash on his bike’s sudden acceleration. He even set up a Go Fund Me page asking for donations to help with his medical bills. Such is the life of a YouTube “star,” after all. We just hope that his next stunt doesn’t end with someone else getting hurt.
