Every Harley-Davidson rider knows their favorite H-D model, style, and engine. Mine is the Super Glide that wears the title FXR. I love the lighter chassis, the design details, and the way the bike’s become one of the go-to models for incredible customizations.

It seems I’m not the only one who loves the FXR. Duane Pacha over at Hot Bike Magazine recently posted a tale about his new custom FXRT that he had fabbed at Conely’s Accessories USA. It uses a worked-over Twin Cam engine from a ’99, a modified alloy swingarm, machined Delrin bushings, and a welded frame mount for a monoshock. In a moment of sanity and intelligence, Conely’s added mounts for late-model Dyna controls to prevent the need to search for annoyingly rare FXR parts.

While they spent plenty of time making sure this bike has all the power and control it needs, Duane was not about to forget about its looks. He already had an idea in his head of how he wanted it to look. The results are phenomenal. The frame was powdercoated red, with most of the components done in black wrinkle and black gloss. The rest of the bike was painted in a basecoat of black, covered in metal flake, and then sealed with a coat of red candy. Those choices led to a bike that looks black when it’s out of the light, but bursts with red when the sun strikes it.

There are far too many details in the actual piece to go over here, so feel free to head over to the original post to learn about every custom part and modification that made this bike the visual and mechanical stunner it is. Just the engine mods alone are enough to fill up a whole post. In fact, after a few runs on the dyno, this bike was producing 109 horsepower and 109 pound-feet of torque. It’s simply amazing.
