Not everybody can pull off the badass biker look. For those looking for a Harley-Davidson with a more tame personality, it’s time to take it back to the ’60s. And not because we want to drink Tang and play with those balsa wood airplane things. Neither of those left our rotation of daily activities anyway.

While automakers were busy perfecting their muscle cars, H-D was attempting to muscle down by creating its own version of a scooter, the Topper. The miniature two-wheeler began production for the 1960 model year with a fiberglass body, automatic transmission, and started with a pull-cord (at the base of the seat). It had a two-stroke, 165cc engine that got an estimated 80 MPG and had a top speed of 45 MPH.

They were produced through 1965, making them an extremely rare find today. But that’s why eBay Motors is great. Two of them have recently been spotted up for auction, one complete with a utility sidecar box.

The first (above) is in extremely good condition but did not sell due to its pretty high $6,000 starting bid. The second (below) comes with the sidecar, is sitting at $2,150 with seven days left, and already has 25 bids.

*Mind wanders, daydreaming of creating a YouTube parody show about Topper gang on top of the underground Pokemon black market trade.*

Then once you get this sidecar back into tip top shape, you can store your Topper service manual and Topper enthusiast mag in there at all times to show off to your friends. Happy bidding.
