Finding the Best Deals at a Motorcycle Swap Meet

By -

YouTuber tries to separate the wheat from the chaff at a motorcycle swap meet while finding parts to fix his wrecked Sportster.

The last time we checked in with YouTuber Flip Na, he was just getting back on two wheels after a motorcycle accident. That first ride after the wreck marked an important milestone. It restored his courage, and it also reminded him of why he loves riding in the first place.

His Harley-Davidson Sportster was damaged in the wreck, and he wasn’t sure at first what the insurance company would do. To start the video off, he explains that “I got to keep the Sportster, but it needs some lovin’.”

With his friend Shadetree Surgeon, he heads to a monthly motorcycle swap meet to look for parts to fix his Sportster. The main thing he’s looking for is a complete front end setup — forks, triple trees, a front fender, and all of the related parts. He’s also looking for wheels and sissy bar mounts.

Striking Out at the Swap Meet

Now, Sportsters are pretty common bikes, but for some reason, parts aren’t as well-represented at swap meets. We think it’s because a lot of the old guard still considers them to be “half a Harley.” Unfortunately, this fate befalls Flip Na at this particular swap meet. He says, “No good luck for me.”

At least the food is somewhat decent. If you’re looking for decent county fair-type food without all of the sketchy rides and screaming kids, you’ll always find it at a motorcycle swap meet, no matter what kind of bike you ride.

Even if you don’t find anything for your bike at a swap meet, it’s still a fun way to spend a weekend morning. It’s like being a modern-day treasure hunter. Instead of priceless ancient relics, you’re looking for hard-to-find Harley parts.

After hearing about his accident, we’re glad to see Flip Na riding and walking around with no apparent difficulty. He says, “January seriously kicked my butt!” We’re hoping that he gets his bike back together soon so that he can enjoy it this summer.
