Blacked-Out Fat Boy Low Hits the HDForums Marketplace

In the market for a new bike? The real deals are found right here on HDForums.

Not all Harley-Davidson motorcycles are about shiny paint and gleaming chrome. This 2014 Fat Boy Low, for sale in our own forum marketplace, was made to fly under the radar.

Its black denim paint and blacked-out engine lends this big Softail a sinister look. True to its name, the Fat Boy Low has a ground-hugging stance that adds to its aggressive nature.

The Fat Boy Low is about as far removed as you can get, visually, from shiny, chrome-laden Softail Deluxe I wrote about recently. It was a bike very much like this one that gave me my first Softail riding experience, and it will always hold a place in my heart as a result. Besides, it’s a damn good-looking bike.

Even though most of the bike is blacked out, the true beauty is in the details. I’m particularly fond of the LED headlight in the black housing. I also really like the tank badging on these models. Nearly everything that isn’t black is finished in a matte silver, brushed finish.

If you like riding more than you like polishing chrome, then this is probably the Harley for you. It’s being sold by forum member LoBro in Tennessee for $11,900.

That price gets you a nearly-new bike with just over 4,000 miles. We’d say that that’s a bargain and a half. This bike also comes with a couple of extras, too, like a blacked-out 2-into-1 exhaust and a performance air filter, also in black.

Unlike some of the other Softail models, I’d hesitate to disrupt the minimalist look of this bike with saddlebags and a windshield. This one would be for short-distance rides only, maybe an hour or two at the most. There is a small swingarm bag for carrying the bare necessities, though. That’s another bonus from the seller.

About the only change I’d make is a different seat so that I could bring a friend along for the ride. These bikes are liking riding on a cloud, except much louder. It’s the sort of experience you want to share with your friends.
