Arkansas Harley-Davidson Dealer Hosts Veterans Day Parade

A day of family fun & Harley-Davidsons paid tribute to those who have served our great nation.

Today is Veterans Day, a day in which we celebrate the brave sacrifice of our military veterans. There’s few things as profoundly American as Harley-Davidson motorcycles. It’s important to recognize the people that make all of the good things we take for granted possible.

This Saturday, November 9, may not have been great riding weather if you live up north. In Fayetteville, Arkansas, though, the weather was picture perfect.

That’s a very good thing, because that’s when Pig Trail Harley-Davidson hosted their annual Veterans Day Parade. The parade started at Lokomotion, a local family fun park, and made its way to the dealership through the streets of Fayetteville.

Lokomotion is all about fun and games. The park offers a go-kart track, laser tag, and mini golf, among other diversions. Ending up at a Harley-Davidson dealership packed wall to wall with full-sized fun machines sounds like a great day to us.

However, the yearly event served a greater purpose. Each year, Pig Trail Harley-Davidson’s Veterans Day Parade raises money for Disabled American Veterans.

Disabled American Veterans is a non-profit that helps and supports those wounded in battle. In addition to the physical injuries we can see, many veterans suffer from mental and emotional distress that’s less visible.

Still, the parade is a fun time for veterans and their families. They’ve certainly earned it. These photos from the Northwest Arkansas Democrat Gazette show the size and scope of the parade.

Bikers as far as the eye can see departed the Lokomotion fun park before riding through Fayetteville. They then descended on Pig Trail Harley-Davidson.

Many of the bikers were carrying flags on their bikes, which looked majestic blowing in the wind as the bikes cruised down the road. Those flags had a message, however.

In addition to the American flag, many carried flags of the armed forces they served in. The Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard were all well represented.

Others, however, carried P.O.W./M.I.A. flags, honoring those who never made it home. It’s important to remember their sacrifice as we celebrate Veterans Day.
