1947 Harley-Davidson

The only thing better than a vintage ’47 Harley is a red one!

Red is perhaps the most popular color on any vehicle, no matter how many wheels it has. People go bonkers over the color, for whatever reason. In all fairness, red does look good on big ‘ole vintage fenders. It certainly looks sweet on this beautiful 1947 Harley-Davidson. We caught the classic bike on eBay, where it was recently up for grabs with a $43,000 price tag!

The time period in which this Harley was produced is an important one not just in H-D history, but American history. The Great Depression put all but two American motorcycle manufacturers out of business completely. Harley was able to hold on thanks to the success of their big V-Twin bikes and their winning-ways on both the track and the street.

This is one fine example of a vintage Harley, and it just so happens
to be painted in maybe the most popular color of all time.

Looking at this 1947 Harley, it’s easy to see why they were so popular. The styling of these classic rides still holds true today. These are still some of the best-looking bikes ever built. In its time, the Knucklehead was a unique and distinctive upgrade over the old Flathead. The power-plant chugged on until 1948, when it was replaced by the Panhead.

That makes this restored 1947 Harley-Davidson the last of a breed. The restoration was completed five years ago, but only 1,100 miles have been accumulated since then. This is one fine example of a vintage Harley, and it just so happens to be painted in maybe the most popular color of all time.

With prices steadily rising on vintage Harleys, there’s no doubt that more will begin to pop up for sale. The price on this particular Knucklehead may seem a bit high, but it’s worth appreciating as a well maintained example of H-D’s greatest!
