Earlier this year Saietta Motorcycles merged with the Agni Motor company to form the Saitta Group who just recently released their first creation; Saietta NGS electric superbike. Saietta meaning “Thunderbolt” in Italian is a perfect name for this shocking two-wheeler. The Saitta Group has drafted a strong team full of experienced experts from active fields in aerospace, electronics, motor racing, car design and military to fulfill their electric dreams. It just like Steve Jobs said in his lost interview on Netflix that first you must build a tight team before changing the world.

If you have been paying attention to the electric motor industry you would have heard the name Cedric Lynch who is a mad electric scientist. Over a decade ago he invented his own type of super efficient and blazing fast electric motor he calls the Agni Motor. His motor and development has been alive and well for over a while now. I think this is first time a serious full-production motorcycle company has planned on using his Agni race-winning electric motor design.

The Saietta Group headquartered in the UK hasn’t just invested in the most advanced electric motor design, they devoted the same attention to the chassis, suspension and aerodynamics. A few high points shared with us from Motorcycle News blew my mind that were on a motorcycle. The first was that the Saietta has an advanced monocoque battery casing made of carbon fiber, a double-wishbone front suspension and that it doesn’t carry a gearbox or clutch.

In the past Brammo and other electric motorcycles have been bolted to a gearbox but the idea behind the Saietta is to offer an uninterrupted experience. Just you and the throttle without fiddling with the extra lever. With close to over 200 horsepower and 110 lb-ft of torque the Motorcyle News reviewer said it’s supposedly smooth, slick and quick to get to up to speed. From watching other electric motorcycle reviews the biggest point I hear is that the business of all the piston flying around is gone and there is more solace on the road.

Pricing shows it’ll be below $65,000 U.S. currency in 2017 for it release. MCN also shares that Saietta mentioned that this is a concept and the production bike will have modified components like welded aluminum instead of caste, footrests and suspension. This price is competitve to other electric superbikes but still not resonable for the riders actually needing electric bikes for the everyday haul. $65,000 is in the toy price range not the tool price range but we still appreciate the work towards making the world a better place. What do you think a good price to power ratio is for an electric motorcycle today?
