Default Want a 1971 FX service manual

Anyone know where I can get a service manual for a 1971 FX Super glide? &nbsp\\;I might be attempting to restore one. Any other information would also be greatly appreciated.

The dealer, ebay, J&amp\\;P Cycle. There are many other places. I seriously recommend getting the official Harley manual but some like the Clymers or Haynes.&nbsp\\;

hard charger i have the 71 superglide in my garage if you want stock, you are looking down a hard road. drum brakes, boat tail rear end, stock banna seat. I wanted to do the same with mine but I can give you some ideas to up grade without losing classic points

Shovlee5spd,
I could use any and all the information that you want to share. What I really need right now is detailed phots of a complete or nearly complete 71 super glide. The bike that I'm thinking about restoring has the boat tail rearend complete with the inner fender and seat. It currently has forward controlls that I want to replace with original. I think that this bike is mostly stock with&nbsp\\;only a few add ons. It coms with lots of parts, both original and after market.

It's funny when the 71 came out everybody that I knew that had one immediately got rid of the fiberglass fenders.&nbsp\\; Now because of that they bring a premium.&nbsp\\; You are lucky to have got them with the bike.&nbsp\\; Parts unique to the 71 FX besides the fender was the brake linkage, exhaust pipes, battery box, Early Sportster style front legs and brakes, Lower dash panel, Inner primary without the solinoid hole, (They were kick start only) and a few other things that escape my mind right now

Shovelee5spd,
Your right there are&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;pictures in most Harley books but not detailed pictures of specific areas. Any ideas about upgrades would be greatly appreciated.

PS
I have found an original&nbsp\\;service manual, parts catalog, and bought a "how to restore your harley" from JP cycles

if you wanted to go with a 5 spd trans 87-90 big twin trans will bolt right in. stock breaks look good for restoration but dont quite stop you.
check and see weather you have single front disk or dual that will tell you what setup you need. if you are going to restore&nbsp\\; your sled the best thing&nbsp\\; yo do is go to swap meets and see what you can find out. i'll dig up what i can for you if you give me your email i can send you a parts catalog and servise manuel&nbsp\\;
