Iam building a bike from left over parts in the shop. 103in shovel stroker with a 94 5 speed trans.. it took alot of machining to get the trans to fit but it seems to work so far.. I had to basically cut the whole back bottom half of the trans off eliminating the bottom two bolt holes to clear the swing arm... im goin to run an open belt drive. does anyone know of any torque plates for the right side in between the engine and trans. I want to run one to try and keep the trans from moving since i eliminated the bottom two bolt hole..

I have never done what you are doing, but if you're running a cone type shovel I would think a torque plate that would fit a 94 five speed bike is the most likely to fit if the orientation of the tranny to the engine is the same. Are ya using a 4 speed frame? Any way you could weld on some mounts to hold that tranny down? I'm thinking that engine's torque is gonna really put some strain on the tranny mounts you still have, even with a torque plate. Are you using a plate between the tranny and engine on the left side too?

yeah its in a 4 speed frame.. i fabricated my own trans plate. fits great.&nbsp\\;just looking for a&nbsp\\;quality maker of a right side torque plate.. i got my act together not to sure about other people on here... im 100 percent positive that the front two bolts through the inner primary the two bolts through starter, the clutch hub nut, and the 4 nuts that hold the trans to the plate should be more then sufficient. just looking for a little added security...im not just some asshole. I think I get it now about how you are tying down that trans. Sounds like you got it covered. I have never used a torque plate so I cannot recommend a manufacturer.

Sorry about all the posts. I cannot seem to get more than a couple sentences to go through at a time. That 103 ought to be a ton of fun when you get it on the road.

I have done this before,,,we cut the frame behind the tranny mounts, add slugs to lengthen frame to clear tranny...Install as usual, I run all 3" open BDL set ups,sometimes with the engine to tranny mounting plate on drive side or make alinkage with a heim joint set up to stop tranny from tryin to move.little frame tabs are used as mounting points. Also have seen tranny adjusters welded to down tube with a threadable rod pushing back against tranny, this was on a 120" shovel drag bike....

thanks for the info. too late now to cut the frame. carlini design makes a nice torque arm for the right side of the trans to engine. got one off ebay for fifty bucks. goin to take some pics as soon as the trans goes back in.
