There are as many ideas as oils...I have only used HD 60 wt on my 65 pan (I am 2nd owner since 1970), but many out there will suggest other types depending on temp and what not. My dad rode a 45 flattie that he bought when he came home from his War and always used nothing but HD oil. It is the only thing I buy from MoCo what with all the other modern stuffthey offertoday. For what it's worth I will tell you it has never failed me.
I also own a 76 FLH and am restoring a 49 EL. 60 wt is all I use for my 76 and when the 49 is ready, it is the only oil I will use. HD 60 wt has always worked for me...but then again I live in Kalif where temps rarely get to the point that your oil is the consistency of maple syrup.
