ty...try richsparts.com. They offer engine from all years. Never purchased anything from them tho. Maybe someone on this forum has? Think you will have hard time finding a reasonable price on a 65 (last year pan) motor. Ya gotta remember also that they only made jenny-shovels for three years as well which makes 'em a bit on the rare side.

I am considering the sale of my 79 cubic inch S&S Retro-Generator Evo motor to replace with the new S&S p-series. This motor was designed to fit stock 4 speed frames from 48-present with no clearance issues. Comes with a Mallory Unilite distributor and manufacturers statement of origin. engine has about 1000 miles since new, and has a short sprocket shaft for tin primary, kick start applications. Interested?

If I remmember correctly your frame won't take that pan, it has different hieghts on the mounts. Knucks can go into pans but not the other way around.

If you have a 38 knuck frame you have a rare piece,,and I believe a pan will not as stated....DO NOT CUT THAT FRAME!!!! If you really want a panhead,,sell that frame...get a nice wishbone and have extra money for the motor.

First. I don't think you are going to find a CHEAP panhead engine. They are getting scarce and the price reflects that trend. Second 65-72? Panheads were produced from 1948 to 1965 so 66-72 were not panheads. Third, a panhead engine will not fit in a knuckle frame without modifications. alot of knuckle frames did not make it through the 60's without modification, If yours did I would not modify it. What you need is a wishbone frame 48-mid 54 or a straight leg late 54-57 assuming you wanted to keep it rigid. Or you could build a knucklehead or a big twin flathead U,UL,ULH. Thatwould also fit in your 38 frame. if your 38 frame is in good shape and you are determined to build a panhead e-mail me andI could come up with a panhead frame to swap.
