Default NEED to lower VRSCR

I'm finally gonna get my first Harley! I've fallen in love with the V rod only to find out the very one I want to buy, (used 06 VRSCR) is the tallest saddle in the bunch. Me? I'm the shortest in the bunch. Have Gold wing and looking for around town cruiser and this is the bike. How much does it take to lower this thing? Almost bought it yesterday but blinked when I found out it has a 31" tall saddle. Called local Harly dealer (Woodlands Tx) and they pretty much scratched their head? Soo how do I do it? I love the middle controls or I would have moved on to the forward, more readily available A C D E or what ever these VRSC nominclatures mean!
thanks in advance for any help, chuck

Look for a "D" model it has mid contols and is lower than a "R"
26" seat height

now ya tell me bought the R. came with 1" tamarack lowering kit for back. Looking at the forks, couldn't I just lower the shocks into the triple brackets? ?

Progressive make a lowering kit for the front forks or, if you want to go all fancy and use an air ride system there are front and rear lowering kits available but you'll need to drop around $1700 or so if you go that route.

You can replace the rear shocks with Arnott Air Shocks. I have these on my 2006 SE V-Rod. Mine have about 4" of travel and I ride with mine totally slammed with no problems. These shocks are the best single mod I have done to my V-Rod. They come in chrome or black. This site: http://www.1130cc.com/forums is a great V-Rod site and you can get all kinds of information about these shocks there. This site also has a sub-forum called "Group Buys". Every couple of months or so, the forum gets a "Group Buy" together on the Arnott Shocks and you can save some money on them. The last one was a few weeks ago and the shocks went for: Chome: $920.00 shipped; Black: $860.00 shipped. Regular price is: Chrome: $1,200.00 shipped; Black: $1,100.00 shipped. They are not hard to install and the 1130cc.com forum can help you there too. Here is a link to the latest Group Buy on the Arnott Air Shocks:

This is a picture of my bike slammed with the Arnott Air Shocks. One other thing. If for some reason these shocks ever leak down, you can still ride the bike and they also have seperate damping. Mine have never leaked and have been installed for about 7 months so far. I HIGHLY recommend these shocks.

Opps. I just read that the Arnott Air Shocks don't work with the Street Rod. I hate that for you. Still, if you were to go to the 1100cc.com site, you might find out how other Street Roders lowered their ride. That really is rotten luck.

I've got a 09 AW and the not sure what shocks the dealer threw in but a friend of mine in NorCal has the exact same bike as I do and he took some stock shocks from his friend who took it off his 07 dyna low. lowered the AW by an inch and a half to two inches.

Shocks fit right on no prob, no mod, simply bolted right on...

You would have to replace the front end triple trees and forks and get some stock shocks from another model V-Rod. You should be able to cobble it together for under 1K, probably closer to $700-750.
You may run into problems with mounting your instrument cluster though, it's an R only item.
I'd suggest posting a thread about it on 1130cc.com

Lowering an R is not an easy task. The gas tank gets in the way if you try to lower it too much. Put the R on a lift, take the shocks off and then lower the lift to see what the limits are. The swingarm to gas tank clearance won't allow for too much lowering of the bike.

You *may* be better off trading it for a D model.
