belt replacement

Default belt replacement

anyone replace a belt on one of these trikes yet? just wondering what it takes to do it. i have a service manual coming and can't wait to read it. what about belt tension ? the same as the touring bikes ?

This is how I tension the belt, the manual tells you how much.

this is what i was looking for. what are the belt specs ? my 15 tri's belt seems really tight. i don't want to be wiping out bearings early.

I had my belt replaced under warranty ... took them 10 hours ... they did remove the body ... as a plus ... I think it rides better now ... alignment?

Fuzzy, if you had paid for the replacement I might consider it being you paid that much money out it had to be better ! LOL !
But maybe they did change the alignment some. They had it loose.....

Basically, the body gets removed, primary outer cover, clutch, left shock, and lots of other stuff. Almost all the rear is apart. When it's all back together except the body, they then have to align the rear. Full blown procedure in the manual.

My service manager called HD for short cuts and was told there are none. The best mechanics, that have done it before can do it in 5-6 hrs. The average is 8-10. My dealerships top mechanic did it, took him 10 hrs, but he'd never done a tri before. He was really "****" about the alignment.
