Default Harbor Freight Lift - What Chock to use?

So I was all set to pick up a Direct Lift - one of these days. Thinking about it for a year now, when my brother tells me someone he knows is selling a lift (they are upgrading). Figured it was a HF lift but figured I would look at it anyway. $150 later I now have a lift, thought I could always get my money back if I upgrade later.

Anyway, I have seen a lot of threads here about the lift (mostly good), but wanted suggestions on the clamp/chock. Looking at the stock one, I would not trust that with a bicycle. Knowing that I will have to get the bike on it myself (no one is ever around when there is work to do) and I plan to build boxes on either side to widen it when the lift is down.

What do you suggest for a chock and any tips for installing/using it?

I am thinking of the Pittsburgh Motorcycle - item#69026 from HF

(sorry - had a link here, but could not get it to work)

Thanks

That is the chock that many have said they used and the one that I am planning on using.

I just purchase a lift and wheel Chock #97841 it is pretty close to the more expensive Condor. I am returning the lift tomorrow but I am keeping the Wheel chock for the future use on another table or a trailer. I mounted it on the table with large C-clamps to test both the table on the chock, the table fail my test but the chock worked great it support my Ultra which gave me time to get off and strap it down.

Thanks $tonecold

DXHD $100 - do you like that chock better because it is adjustable, or? Also, why did the lift fail your test?

I have the 69026 you mentioned and it works fine. Just make sure you mount it far enough forward or the 2 rear bolts will hit on the cross members when you lower the lift. Google harbor freight motorcycle lift and there are several images of it mounted and you can see how far forward it is.

Thanks Roadie 13, I assume you mean like the first pic and not the second. It looks like the center of gravity is pretty far forward -
(My apologizes if I "borrowed" anyone's pics with out their permission)

I think one of the HF would work. I have the large heavy black one that you could probably make work but the silver one above looks good. Just make sure you tie her down. Can you attach the table to the floor? I would bolt that to the floor as a precaution, then strap the bike down when you have it lifted. My .02.

first... be sure you bleed that jack on the lift... they need it... i did a write up on here a while ago on how to do this... i use the locking jack from HF but ALWAYS strap it... here are some pics... ya it is red but that is cause i am **** and own a powder coating company so i have to have everythign match!

here is a shot pre powder

on our direct lifts we use a vice so we have an option on tire removals

also the hf works great for sleds

Python I am 62years old with a knee replacement it takes me a little longer now to get down off the bike and the lift. I wanted a chock that would hold an Ultra Classic up while I got off and strapped it down I thought it would be better because of an Ultra being so top heavy. And about the HF Lift it would not hold the weight in the locked position the table would but when lowered on to the safety bar the bar just bent.
