Default RE: possible 07 recall

I already had the 103 burn on my '07 Ultra to help with the A/F ratio and it helped, but I still went with the PC111 I got from Jamie at FUEL MOTO and it was still right on target. I don't believe it will affect you PC111 download, but you will probably have to convert your bike back to stock unless you know the Dealer or Service Manager. I'll talk with my Dealer tommorrow.

My 06 ran hot as hell and pinged until I installed the dfo. What's the moco doing for 06's?

Several owners of '07s have complained about low RPM surges. It sounds to me like MoCo is concerned that either 1). these surges will damage the drive train during the warranty period ($$$ out of MoCo's pocket), or 2). someone will "surge" right into the back on a stopped vehicle or into an intersection full of oncoming traffic (BIG $$$ out of MoCo's pocket). The bikes are too lean in the low throttle range and about the only thing that gets the EPA-gestapo to relax their standard is a big safety issue.

My guess is that an "ECM calibration upgrade" is probably nothing more than enrichening the AFR setting in the low throttle range.

06's have that surge problem too. I'll quote an article in August 06 American Rider test of an 06 Roadglide "but deceleration has a little quirk. Every time the throttle is closed the ECM likes to blip the throttle just a tad. This causes a small surge on deceleration. It can be compensated for but if your not expecting it, it can cause an unwanted lurch and unsettle your stomach just when you are setting up for that descending-radius downhill turn"

I've been dealing with that lurch since day one! moco says -normal.
Even with my dfo, it is still there.

When I talked to the dealer, one of the guys said that there is a download for the hot running/ lean condition. It is free for the first time download and to take it off. After that, it will cost. Something about shutting the rear cylinder down(fuel) when stopped or in neutral. Maybe someone has heard more on this. He tried to tell me that it may(not will) fix the pinging also.

I and some others already got the free idle speed download... pretty sure that the new bulletin is diff. since it sounds like an ECM tweak to engine management while the scoot is underway.

I would think this would only apply to stock bikes, if you have already done A/C, pipes and a custom map by either a SERT or PCIII you have probably already solved the problem. My 07 doesnt have nearly the surge as my 06 did, and my heat level went down after adding A/C, pipes and having the bike dynoed.

You know the problem runs deep if they are issuing a total recall. Wonder how MoCo is going to deal with motors that have actually been damaged & guys that have modified/tuned bikes to get them running correctly?

Default RE: possible 07 recall

After reading this post last evening and confirming my vin was affected (10-07 SG build), called a dealer here in in central fl. about 20 min ago (not the one I bought my bike from) in an attempt to find out more info and when my bike could be done. When I mentioned the recall notice number he had no idea about it and requested my vin which he apparently inputted into the HD system. He asked me if I bought the bike from them and I replied no. He then said would this afternoon at 1:30 work. Said sure enough...so that's how my afternoon will be spent. Anyway, I'm still breaking her in (bout 550 miles) so I may not be the best to provide feedback but nonetheless I'll try to find out more and post the results this evening.

I'm thinking I just got lucky with a service slot or the Moco considers this recall very important. You guys that are affected my want to expedite your own situation.
