Default RE: 07 tranny probs?

In the interest of accuracy
&nbsp\\;
No Harley before '08 came with IDS as standard equipment
IDS can be installed on any '07 FLH
Many IDS units have been installed on '07 s and I for one believe it is the best '07 upgrade

I have been reading this thread from the begaining . My 07 UC did not start to clatter untill around 17,000 mil. . I now have just under 28,000 mil and have been fighting with my dealer seance . he keeps saying he does NOT hear any thing . I was going to traid it in for a 09 BUT they only wanted to give me $11.000.00 for it . a lose of over $8,000.00 in less then 2 years.

Well to make this a little storter .

I now own a NEW Viotory Vision . I LOVE ALL 1,500 MIL I HAVE PUT ON IT SO FAR . If more pepole stop buying Harleys we can see a better product to come out of there factory .

I have been a Harley owner for over 25 years . I still have 3 other Harleys . I do not know if I will ever buy a NEW Harley again ???????????

If the clatter was the same as others have experienced, a $300 IDS could have fixed the issue. Seems less expensive than a $8k loss and a new bike. It seems like you must have had other problems with the bike?

Default Chuck

I just lost the double bearing on the right side of the transmission at 32,000 miles. Tech said they had never seen a failure?? They are sendng me a new transmission. Hope yall with less than 32,000 miles don't have this to look forward to.

Get the isolated drive system upgrade for the 07's and you will never look back. When I purchased my 07 Ultra from a private individual it rattled and I swore it was coming apart. (The deal was too good or I would never had purchased it). Did a search on this forum and purchased the IDS from Zanotti's and had them install the bearing. Result............No more can of rocks and smooth as a whistle. In typical H-D form, the IDS was put on all touring 08's. I will say that this was the best money spent on ANY vehicle I have ever owned.

Default wine in 5th gear.

Hi, I just took delivery of a 09 FLHR and have a terrible whine in 5th gear. I haven't spoke to the dealer yet about it. Looking to get all the info before I do. I don't want hear them tell me its normal. This is my third Harley the others were all 5 speeds and no gear noise. Can anybody tell me if there is a fix for this issue?

Thanks
Walt

They will tell you that its normal.

A popular way to "suppress" the noise is by using a heavy weight gear lube in the trans, such as a 75W-140.

I have a 07 and no noise from tranny at all. I have about 5000 miles on it.

Thanks I'll dump the wine and put some gear oil in and see if it makes a livable difference be fore I start bitch-en. Other than that its a nice ride.
