Default RE: 07 tranny probs?

Maybe we're just lucky, but my wife and I both have '07s - a Deluxe and a Road Glide - and they are both great. Hers is a bit louder in 5th than mine, but not a lot. We replaced a '04 FXDLI and a '06 FLHR. Both new bikes in stock form seem stronger than the ones we replaced (which both had pipes/air/map done). We couldn't be happier, 'cept it'll be January before we can get to Corbin....

Any news on a fix?

I heard that Baker is selling a system for $900 or so that quiets it down.

Hey, 07 RK here. just got my bike picked up from the dealership to have the "recall" work done as well as have them check out the 5th gear whine....I had them put in full synthetics on the 1000 mile and it made a big difference with the noise but it is still noticeable. I just got off the phone with HD corporate...needless to say they denied that the 5th gear noise was a problem. I wonder why some have the problem and some dont if it is "supposed" so sound like that...should I tell my friend to take his RK back because it is NOT making that noise? LOL..well anyway. i will keep you all posted on the progress...

Same, same, same. I have had my 07 Road King since late September. Now have 2,200 miles and it has been LOUD since new. Also have the pipes bluing all the way to the muff's. Took it back to the dealer a week after picking it up complaining about 5th gear noise (bucket of bolts sound). I have had HD's for 20+ years and they can not pass this off to me as normal. Can't bull S&^% a bull S*&%er.
Dealer claimed that 1st and 5th are square cut for strenght, while 2,3,4,and 6 are helical cut to mesh better. Bull. Since when is 5th gear a power gear? These things have a seroius perroblem and the MoCo better offer some answers soon. If anybody has heard of any offering by the MoCo, I would love to hear about it.

From the AMA Site: http://www.amadirectlink.com/news/2006/07HD.asp

"The six-speed Cruise Drive transmission, which was introduced on the Dyna family in 2006, features gear ratios optimized to match the torque curve of the new Twin Cam 96/96B engines. The addition of a higher-ratio sixth gear reduces top-gear rpm by 11 percent, compared to the previous five-speed Big Twin transmission. At 75 mph, engine speed is reduced by 368 rpm, from 3227 rpm to 2859 rpm. Second through fourth gears have helical-cut teeth for quieter operation, and load carrying capacity has been increased significantly."

I hope I'm not the first to show you this and I hope your bike issues are resolved. Love mine but I guess I'm a lucky one.

have an 07 rk with 7500mi. using amsoil syn and gear oil in tranny. quieted down a bit. new download works good but still have ping only at mid range rpm now. otherwise bike runs strong but will still unload as soon as hd has a fix on new bike. 5th gear blows when touring back roads at 45 to 55 mph

There has been endless complaints on this site and others about this noise-clatter-maybe a fix is coming, maybe its not. There is no denying that HD knows about it,the dealers, the reps. You guys that have had enough need to take your b1tch beyond the internet chat rooms.Start loading these magazine editors with your complaint, your experiences.File a complaint w/the NHTSA whether its safety related or not.HD has to answer for it.File your complaint w/MOCOs C/S and thats it.File a complaint w/your states Attorney General-it takes more than one person to draw attention, the more the better. You have a legitimate warranty issue that they are not addressing. They took your $,now make them give you what you paid for.I have been in contact w/Ironhorse magazine and they have printed my complaint in the Jan/Feb issue.I have filed w/the NHTSA and PAs state attorney general. This problem needs more than just me to get ratified.
