I walked into East Coast HD (North VA) with a pre-approved check from my bank and my 2007 RK Custom in tow. We haggled over the Custom's trade in from $10K to $11K.
They would not come down of MSRP, also they would not offer anything off on the accessories. So I walked out.
The delaer is full of new 2010s and 2009s, but they don't want to deal. Things must be going very good to pass up a sure sell.
Oh well, I'll try Patriot HD tomorrow.
Good for you, Don't take that from them. Try Carolina Coast HD in Willmington NC.

Rocky Mount HD in RM North Carolina will sell you any bike there, 09, 2010, for MSRP, NO setup, NO freight, just pay your state tax and you're done. They are good folks to deal with and it is not a long drive from Northern Virginia. Call Brock and talk to him.

Try going in the last business day of the month. Often, not always, if their sales were low that month they are willing to deal.
+1 on this post. The dealer I bought my Limited from was offering $1500 off every bike (except Limiteds and CVOs - of course) right up until the end of October. On November 1 all the discounts were gone. Still plenty of bikes on the floor - but they're just not thinking about meeting their monthly sales quotas right now. Patience is the key if you want to strike the best deal.
Been there done that a couple months ago .
I,m satisfied with my deal .
Had to drive a little to save , but worth it ,
I called evry dealer within 400 miles .
All different attitudes .
New exactly what I wanted and was willing to pay ,
Stick to your guns ...
No there not dirt cheap or free , and they do vary per region in price ....
Good luck . Give Cycle Stop of Rochester NY a call .
Tell them Craig sent ya ...ps talk to the owner ...LOL...

Another +1 on this post, with a slight twist. I go in the second to last business day of the month (end of year is even better) and present the deal I want, OTD, and tell them I will close and pay for the bike before month (or year) end.
Just this week i traded in my 02 FLHT on a 2009 Street Glide(Demo Model) at Ft.Myers Harley-Davidson.
They treated me fairly well, now i just need new pipes(any suggestions) and maybe a new seat as wife is complaining about stock seat !!
I was on my way to Patriot this morning to work a deal again and decided not to even try. Decided to just ride.
I'm going to wait till January or February and try again. I'm in no hurry.

Try Waugh's HD in Orange VA, about a 90 minute ride away depending on where you are in NOVA. Don't waste your time with East Coast.
Also, I visited Outer Banks HD (the new location), and they start the negotiations at MSRP and are willing to go lower. They've got excess '09 inventory that they need to move because they just shutdown one dealership and moved all the stock over to Outer Banks HD. The salesman came right out and said they're ready to cut some deals to move bike
