wow, hope you got that all straightened out before signing the paperwork! like the other poster, i would like to know the name of the dealer. that way i can either avoid them while on the road, or burn their shirt if i have one

I don't think it's fair to disparage them by name on a forum. If you want to know, send me a pm and I'll tell you. You know what they say, there's always two sides to every story. However, I can tell you that I have not embellished anything with my experience.

I learned a lot from this purchase. I do feel good about the deal I got. It was a brand new 2010 (in August) with ABS, Cruise and security. $500 off MSRP, $500 off Freight and setup, and they gave me $1500 more for my trade than it was worth. And, 'cause of all the BS related to the deal I got a $500 service for free (but they didn't really do much).

I'd be talking to your state's Attorney General.
If the dealership doesn't submit the proper paperwork, you are still held responsible. In NC, there has been several car dealerships pulling similar stunts, and the AG has gone after them.

So let me make sure I understand correctly. After all of your complaining "you feel good about the deal"????

I'm still waiting for the "I don't know how these dealers stay in business."

No need to flame me. I'll be the first one to admit...I don't get it.

Too many dealers out there to end up with a bad one. Before buying a new bike, best to check with known reputable dealers first and make sure you clearly understand service costs. Many have them clearly posted so there is no surprise.

So, did they correct the 1K service? Or did you let them get away with doing nothing? How did you find out they didn't change the oils or adj the clutch? If they did none of those things, I'd be hesitant to believe they did anything and redo the 1K myself.

I've heard of dealers being a-holes and such, but not performing a service (whether free or not) is just wrong. It would be my last time at said dealer.
Climb under the bike and paint the drain plugs yellow, then if they put a wrench to it you'll know.

I have had a wide range of experiences, both good and bad with dealers' service departments. A couple of years ago, I had a dealer do the 1,000 mile service on my new bike. Riding home, I noticed that the clutch felt funny. For fun, I took off the inspection cover to check the fluid level. Apparently, they forgot to refill the primary. Filled it to the proper level and bike was fine. I've changed the primary fluid every year for the last four and it has been fine.

One thing that I've noticed lately, at least locally, there has been a major attitude change (in a good way) in the dealer service department.
