I do like the idea of being able to wash the filter and see what is being filtered so you would notice any changes in engine wear that otherwise wouldn't be seen!!
Good point, but this can be accomplished by cutting open your stock filter.

Thats crazy, You said your anal about your stuff, except your oil changes. That is the single most important item. Can you honestly say the you did any research on the KP filter yet? I provided a link. I know time is tight, but it is worth it. I know there are those that just want to go against the grain, or were taught proper maint. practices by there dads back in the 50's. Progress has been made in the oil and filter arena.

sure sounds like a silly way to pass the time. twenty bucks a year for two oil changes with the stock filter. No warranty questions= priceless.
Why is it always about the cheap buck when it comes to the oil and filters? Does it really sound silly? My engine gets the best oil and filters I can get. I do not find preventive maintenance silly when it comes to my bike.
I think I can spot all the guys that posted in this thread that haven't even did any research on the subject. It is obvious.

I just looked at the kp site. Like every other co trying to sell their product they make lots of claims that might be hard to back up.It also looks like it would be easy for someone not to do a complete cleaning due to lots of pleats that could trap dirt. I might be persuaded to buy one if they actually tested their filter against a standard filter with dirty hot oil. Like if you run a gallon thru both filters, send a sample of the test oil for a uoa, then send a sample of the filtered oil for a uoa.You'll know what you started with, and what you ended up with. A that point everyone can see if their filter actually works better, or as good as a standard filter, or worse.

For those of you who have the K&P filters. The web site mentions that the "Quad ring can be normally be used for several oil changes." How often do you have to replace this ring, where do you get your replacements and how much $$$ are they?

I use the K and P engineering filter and it seems to work as advertised. It's easy to clean and you can see any large particles of dirt, f.o., etc when you clean it.
I'll admit it is a little expensive but it does seem to be a really good filter and it lowered the oil temp of my wife's '07 Deluxe by about 15 degrees (according to her temp gauge). I use an oil cooler on both bikes and it makes it a lot easier to remove vs. the stock filter.
It doesn't really matter kind of filter you use as long as you change it or clean it on a regular basis. Just my .02 worth!
