Default Engine Guard

How many members have removed your engine guard on your touring bike. If so any pics?

Not to derail the thread...but I didn't remove the engine guard...but installed black one...to make it less noticeable...

Given that I dropped the bike soon after I got it...and will probably do it again, can't afford to not have one on the bike....

to me. removing the engine guard is like driving a car without your seatbelt on.nothing will probaly happen but if you crash it going to hurt

yea it looks cool and all the bikes in the mags have them off. but they have a lot of extra money .it is easer to buy a new crash bar than all new sheet metal. and it might just protect your legs. i like the powder coat idea we have one that has front and rear black bars.

If your a fan of leather there is a site sponsor on here Capt. Itch who sells leather wraps for your engine guard. Just put some on mine, and love the look. I'll post pics tomorrow.

Dropped My bike twice, and the engine guard saved the lower fairings and sheet metal. As clumsy as I am, can't afford to go without one. Hmmmmm, Think I'll get those leather wraps to cover the scratch on the engine guard.

Yeah those guards are INVALUABLE when that bike goes down or you drop it. Lots of damage if you don't have that guard on there. It props up the bike and saves it from much damage. I know it looks cool to have them off but things happen and those bars are VERY functional.

I've dropped my bike twice (on loose sand on dirt road I live on) and it suffered NO damage. Without those guards I'd have surely had some damage to fix.

Thanks for the replies. I have never dropped one yet and the Street Glide is a little more tippy than the rest that I have owned. I guess it is worth some security.

Not trying to change anyone's mind or opinion about engine guards...But I have seen many times when a bike goes down or when the engine guard strikes an object it will bend the frame...But I wouldn't dream of taking my engine guard off...Even if it does look cool.
