Hey Guys, I'm thinking about doing a 107 upgrade this winter. What kind of mileage are you getting on the road with 2 up. I like the idea of the extra power but I would also like to keep fuel mileage above 40. Is it possible?

From what I understand a 107" 10:1 setup with some mild (stage II) port work and an Andrews 54 will be a very strong runner for reasonable $$$$ spent.. Combine that with the TTS mastertune and a competent tuner and you should be able to stay around 40MPG...
My build is going to be a little wilder, but not much.. 107" 10.5:1, Stage III heads with compression releases, Screamin Eagle Pro 50mm throttle body, Woods tw-408-44 cams, D&D Fatcat 2 into 1 exhaust, revolution performance 49 tooth ring gear to lower the gear ratio of my dang '07 and make 6th gear usable... TTS Master Tuned by RC Cycles in Hayward.. I should still be near 40MPG and have one hell of a scoot when it's done...
There are so many variables that affect fuel mileage. All things being equal, the more the cubes the less the mileage. We are getting low 40s with our 107 in the 70 MPH range with our 6 spd. Besides other selected engine components, the tune is very important, I do my own tuning and am tuned lean for cruising, in the 15:1 A/F range. Then again, two bikes set up exactly the same will get different mileage. Bottom line, yes, it is possible to get your objective of above 40 if you set it up right.
Actually, it depends on the TUNE and how ya ride it.
"If" it's PROPERLY tuned and you ride in a comparable fashion to the way you do now, you will get BETTER mileage than you do now simply from efficeincy ~ the motor makes more with less.... However, if you enjoy the rush of new found power (and most do), you will find yourself twisting on it harder. The result of that will be decreased MPG, but huge grin factor.
I have been on trips with my 120 and averaged over 45mpg..... it just depends on how hard ya twist'r up!

Hint for today (and tomorrow!): ALWAYS use components that COMPLEMENT one another!
I have the HQ 107, MPG was my biggest concern, I am getting 220 per tank, have not run it out of gas yet but its is a little more than I was getting with stock. I am a pretty agressive rider 70 - 90+ on open road.

I've enclosed several runs from my stock 07 RKC, high cleaner, converted true dual and gets 46 mpg with stock ECU. I've been working on a system that's gets great throttle response, 40mph to 130mph in 4.3 seconds, and as you can see the hp and tq, not to mention the smooth lines during accel. working on a patten so not ready to reveal it. I thought I would share the last dyno result. I want to add no internal parts added just the high flow cleaner and converted from stock to true dual and custom mufflers.

I think the orig. poster was leaning more towards the 107" CI economy.
