Default Buddies bike has leak

My buddy has a 09 street glide and recently added some slip ons and vance and hines air cleaner. After riding we noticed a leak on the motor under the air cleaner. Oil like not much, could it be coming from the air intake or is it something else ? Didnt know what all we should check.

I would say leaking from air cleaner. I had this k&n air filter kit and it leaked all over. I went back to the s/e a/c never leaked again.

There are many threads here on the same subject.

There are crank case vents routed through the air intake. If the bike has too much oil in it, it will puke it out the vents and into the air filter. Most common fix is to run just a hair under full on the dipstick. Either way, it's not going to hurt anything.

+ 1 as above.

Did he just change the filter, or the whole thing? I'm talking about the backing plate.

I also get this after I clean and re-oil my K&N filter by putting too much on or not waiting long enough.

Ok I see it. Thanks for the link.

It is a reuseable filter and pre oiled from the factory. It's not an issue. Little less oil or it could be the samething as I mentioned with it having a little too much filter oil on it from the factory. It's sometimes more pronounced if it's really hot out.

It'll stop after a bit.

I dropped my oil level to about 3oz or about the thinkness of a pencil below the full mark .
It took a little bit of time until the oil stopped. but it's dry now.

Let me guess the oil leaked look like it was coming out at the base of the pushrods...

I have this same K&N filter and have no problems. A little oil does collect at the bottom of the cover but I wouldn't say it leaked all over since I very rarely see any oil spots on anything. I run my oil level 1/2 way between full and add and everything seems to be fine.
