I used Doc Baileys. May need a few more treatments, but the initial treatment lowered the amount of water that gets in. I also cover the seat with the HD cover and a full bike cover to help prevent full soakage!

Material is NOT real leather.
Stock is cheap naugahyde / vinyl and is semi porous
Plus water wicks in through the stitching.
The outer layer is practically paper thin.
#1 don't leave out in the rain
#2. put a rubber on it
#3 spray it with waterproofing for shoes
#4. Have it recovered with GOOD material
wally world... shoe dept.... beeswax...comes in a small tub...great stuff for boots also, heat the item up with a hairdryer then rub it in heavy and wipe off the excess...
