Ima thinking we are gonna start seeing alot more of these on the road. The RG Custom is gonna do what the Street Glide did. Attract a younger buyer. I have seen two around here already on a regular basis and rarely see many regular Road Glides at all in this area.

I agree... I think it's the bagger best spec'd to appeal to the next generation of Harley riders. More performance oriented (2-into-1 and dual headbeams) with contemporary styling... dare I say, "progressive"

talked about how excessive heat turned exhaust pipe brown at about 1500 miles and ride was rough to the point that he had to get off and "walk it off" after some hard bumps on the road. said low profile shocks basically suck in fewer words. said he recommends going back to std. 09 shocks. not a touring bike anymore but a boulevard type hot rod. ok for some but i prefer my 09 for the open road. guess it depends what your priorities are...you know, "different strokes for different folks"...oops, wrong bike...sorry. i do like that red though!!!!

I changed those 12" shocks on my SG almost immediatly to the standard 13" shocks. Now it rides like a touring bike and the funny thing is nobody even notices the difference in height. All they see is a SG. So much for the slammed look! The only thing it slams is your back.

How big a deal is it to swap in some 13" shocks if someone decided they wanted the bike that way? I haven't experienced any 12" shock issues so far, but I just have 1330 miles in a bit over a week or so... most of it two-up. I've got about 20# in the air shocks... less than recommended for two-up. I'll definitely swap in the 13" shocks if any issues crop up for me. I'm fairly light at 180 lbs. and the wife is 112 lbs.

As for the cats and heat, I've got a set of D&D complete 2-to-1 exhaust including cat-less headers on order to go with the 103 big bore kit. Should reduce exhaust heat nicely, though I haven't noticed any excessive heat so far.

Guess I'll find out real quick tomorrow....picking up the new to me 2010 RG Custom then riding her home, about 200 plus miles....should tell me real fast if taller shocks are needed...course it's the me bike, so 99% solo riding for me.

Don, I installed the lower shocks on my bike, after delivery, and I do 99% 2-up riding. As you can see by my sig pic, we load er down. We're a little heavier than the two of you, and have never had an issue. I wouldn't worry about it. I'm even thinking of doing the front. Just find the sweet spot on psi and you'll be happy.

Jonny... sounds good, my friend... I'm in no rush to change shocks at this point.
