2009 Road King Police - New Modifications
I haven't posted updates on my bike in a little while - but I've been pretty busy.
I've done the following:
- Headwinds spotlight/turn signal combination with a bracket that mounts under the triple tree
- Harley plain black front fender like on a Road King Custom or Street Glide
- Harley black short-stem mirrors
- Harley 1/2 moon floor boards
- Powder coated tank dash and a vivid black insert
- Paul Jaffee black levers with circle cut-outs
The Headwinds mounting bracket required a little fabrication as it was designed for a 2008 and earlier Road King. I just had to mill out some space for the brake lines and the bottom of the triple trees. Joel at Headwinds is working on a new version for the 2009 bikes. I need to give him a call and tell him I got mine to fit.
The 1/2 moon floor boards say they only fit Softails, but since most 1986 and later softail floor boards fit touring bikes, I figured these would fit. They didn't - I had to grind a little off of the top of the mounting brackets. Only took a few minutes - pretty easy fix. I really like how these floor boards move my feet out about 3/4 of an inch. Now I see why everybody likes the floor board relocation kits.
I also had the 2009 RK Police service bulletin done to improve the turning radius. This change seems makes a big difference. I'm going to take it out to the police training track tomorrow to see how much improvement (and if I can do the circles I could do on my 2008). So far I've noticed its easier to move the bike around when backing out of my drive way.
Finally, SE 255 Cams and a dyno tune. The heat problem I had on the right side is gone. And the bike definitely has more power. My tq is 98.5 @ 3000 RPM, and the curve stays pretty flat. Not as good as some people have posted - but definitely better than I had before.
Here are some pictures.
