After the input here I think I'm with you guys on the ape thing. I'm not sure 16" isn't a bit much though. How wide of a spread have you found on them?

At 6'4" I am there with ya. But I have not added parts. I moved the floor boards to the bottom position and rolled the bars up 4" (or so). With those changes I needed to adjust the grips - alot. But all is still stock (I am a cheap bastage). This works for me. I would like a bit more room on the boards (36" inseam) but I can move around the bike and have had many 12+ hour rides.

I've tried rolling the bars but really messes up the wrist position. I think some mini apes with as wide a spread as I can get will solve the problem, Along with moving the floorboards up and out. It's all trial and error at this point....
i have a 2007 roadking custom im 6,4 i know 16 inch apes sounds like a lot, most people arent our size i sat on a roadking a friend of mine had 20 in carlinis i had to reach for them,i went with 18 in carlini gansters, what you need to keep in mind will be the pullback on the apes i have long arms as you do also, most apes have a 15 in.pull back, this crowded me elbows bent downward.long arms need less pullback, this is why i chose carlini gansters 7in.pullback.i have riddin several hundred miles per day, love the bars.if you choose this set up through carlini i recommend there clamp i went 1 1/2 dia.this sounds tall and is a big change but for guys our size it works comfortably, check my photos for sizing up also i had spent money on beach bars prior to apes waste of money, take care hope this helps stevo
I'm 6-9 with a 39 in. inseem, so I know tall. I put 13" Cyclesmith on my 05 and should have put 16", my bad. The CS bars are wide also,(37'). I also installed an air ride cop seat that sets you back 2" and up 2". The seat is butt ugly. but your butt don't care. I've done several 5 and 6 hundred mile runs in a day with not probs at all. As for the boards, my feet only stay on them long enough to shift and brake. They're on the highway pegs as soon as I'm rollin. Note the possion of my HW pegs in my sig. I would love to change my boards to pegs like FunnyGirl, but can't see spending 900 bux for that and have to get rid on my engine guard and HW pegs. No offence FunnyGirl. Oh, I also moved my tour pak up for the back rest, with the HD kit and then had to move it back 2" because of the air ride seat is 2" farther back than normal.
