Default Question on HD Run/Brake/Turn kit

I bought the HD Auxiliary Running Light / Brake Light / Turn Signal Conversion Kit from a member on here (http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US). I'm a little concerned with the heat the turn signal bulbs give off though. I had it turned on for maybe 2-3 minutes and both lens got hot to the point you couldn't touch them. I was afraid the lens may melt so I unhooked it. Do I need to change the bulbs? Anyone else have an issue with these?

I've run that setup in the past. To tell you the truth I never checked to see if the lens was hot. Never had any trouble with it though. Are you running any other type of aftermarket lighting that could could overload the electronics?

I have the same run/turn/brake thing and I have a bunch of lights. But I never felt the lenses to se if they were hot. I haven't had any problems either though.

Had the same run/turn /brake deal on my 04 Road King and got it now on my 09 Ultra Classic. Never checked for heat on the lens but I can tell you it's never been a problem. The dealer put it on the O9 before I bought it new off the floor, and I ran it on the king for five years.

I put the Biketronics version on 3 years ago. After I bought it I priced the HD version and it was a bit cheaper. That was a bit surprising.

I've used those kits on bikes since 2000 and never had a problem. Don't micro manage your bike it will drive you crazy.

It's not micro-managing. It's being proactive and trying to catch a little problem before it turns into a bigger problem. I'll hook it back up and see how it goes. The only reason I know it was hot is because I held my hand close to the turn signal while applying the brake to make sure they increased in intensity. Thanks for the replies guys! be safe.
