I don't think the price is out of line for a set of LARGE decent quality speakers with the adapter rings and sound-deadening material. Sure, you can go to Wal-mart or Pep-boys and pay $49 for a pair of crappy speakers, but you get what you pay for. With the discount from the good Doctor, it seems like a real deal. If I wasn't happy with my setup, I'd pounce on the offer.

I realize there are installed with adapter rings but the hole in the faring is smaller than the speaker. How does that effect the sound by having part of the speaker blocked?

I don’t have the 7 1/4” but I do have the 6 1/2” and the sound will be a major improvement.

Would it sound even better with a full size 7 1/4" hole? Yes it would, but we don’t have that option.

You want improved sound, get the bigger speakers. You want full quality sound, take your car where their isn’t any wind driving down the road.

You want even better sound with these bigger speakers? Put in the biggest amp you can. I went with a 360 watt setup for my two 6 ½” speakers. AWESOME.

You wait a couple weeks when John has the rear speaker upgrade too and put 'em in the back as well.

confused,

According to J&M, they will have the Ultra rear speaker upgrade available on September 17.

Jeepin79,

Once the speakers are installed and you really look closely, there isn't much of the actual speaker that is being blocked at all. The way J&M designed the adapter rings, the speaker sits a little further back in the fairing which in effect allows the speaker sound to be unobstructed and basically keeps full sound traveling towards your ears. The speakers sound really good.
