Default Steering head bearings

I just completed my 1000k service on my 2009 Road King police bike. Yep, I bought the service manual and did it myself, and will probably spend the money I saved on chrome! I also put on a Kriss headlight modulator, and was going to take advantage of the opening, after I removed the headlight, to access the zerk fitting for the steering head bearing. I could not see it. That is how I would grease the bearing on my 2001 Road King police bike, rather than replacing the zerk fitting with a 45 or 90 degree fitting. I turned the handle bars to the extreme right, and there was the zerk fitting with clear access from the left side of the bike. No need to remove the headlight or change the fitting or get a different end for the grease gun. So, I was able to grease the bearings with no problem. I only mention this because I am wondering if Harley has recocated this fitting on all the 09's or is it just the police bikes. It sure makes it a lot easier to access the zerk fitting. Halfbreed

Mines not a police model, but it is an 09 Road King, and after searching for a while I also found the fitting and it is very easy to get to and add grease when needed.

My 09 Ultra has a "Straight Shot" fitting as well, unlike my 01 that needed a 45* installed. I recall reading somewhere that 09's have the easy to access zerk.
