My 2002 Roadking is paid for, I have lots of chrome, which I will not get any money for it,
I know the mechanical records, and know what my bike is like.
Used price for 2002 Roadking is around the 10K price.
A used Ultra classic is around 14K
I might save a K or more, but I think I'll be ahead in the long run with this project.
I also have new tires, $400, new battery $150, and I have heated grips with lower fairing the same color of my bike, I'll never get my money back on any of these expenses.
Yeah, this project is a pain in the keester, but I think in the long run, it is financially
sound to to this, because if you wants to upgrade this just makes sense.

All you need to do is move the lights to the forward holes in the bracket, if you look at where the lights are mounted, you will see that there is a slot and an extra hole, I had to cut the wire from the turn signal to get the nut off of the bolt that holds them on but that was the biggesyt problem.

It seams to me like it would be a lot of work to completely replace the wiring harness just to have the guages in the fairing, wouldn't it be easier, and less expecive to just run new wires for the guages, you could put them in a loom to make them look pro., I think the hardest would be the speedo.

Yes, you could make all of the connections directly for the guages. The speedo/tack is not that difficult; there's a connection called serial data from the ECM that provides that information, along with AVC for the stereo.

Replacing the RK main harness with a touring main harness would make for an easy conversion giving full functionality to the fairing (stereo, guages, switches) and an easy plug and play with the interconnect harness. Comes down to how comfortable you are tapping into the RK harness to make the connections.

For my connversion, I'm going with an fairing harness that I will wire back into my RK harness. The only issue is the lack of radio power/memory on the RK fuse box. I'll remedy this by wiring radio power to the accessory position and memory to the battery.

This will give me a fully functioning fairing (electrically); I'm also going with a touring ignition switch/fork lock and replacing the stock tank dash with a custom one w/o holes.

Half the fun is the project itself.

I have the RK harness, but will be willing to change it because of making things work without cutting the wiring and splicing

I have just read 3 threads where people have asked this question and not ONE straight answer >>>> RESULT WAS I WASTED ONE HOUR and have no answer

My neighbor just actually did it to his 08. Didn't hook up any gauges but instead baught a radio for the radio spot and then filled the larger diameter gauge holes with woofers and the small round gauges with tweeters. The fairing actually just bolted on using the same bracket as the windshield. If you would like pictures I can get them by the weekend.
