It ain't just Harley-Davidson folks! I had heII with Deere & Co. 25 years ago. So much so that I finally changed to all Case/IH.

I've been lucky I guess. My local dealer is owned by a guy pretty much known to be a real tightwad. His prices on bikes are definitely at the high end and little negotiation. But my two warranty issues have been handled without hassle.

Bought my bike from an indy and bought an extended warranty with it. It is not a HD extended warranty. We'll see how things are handled then, but so far, so good with the balance I had of the original factory warranty.

Don't take it as a Harley thing. Try taking any make car in for warranty work. It seems every time I need something replaced it's the 1 piece not covered under a "bumper to bumper" warranty. Or the famous "they all do that it's normal"

sounds like you were the third party in this issue. if you're not happy with the service you get from that dealer, it's not etched in fiberglass that you're required to deal there. if i were the service manager there, and someone comes in the door who is loaded with an adversarial attitude, i'd do my best to deny service as well as escorting him off the premises.. threatening with lawyers is such a pussy attitude, adolescent at best. anyway, ride safe.

My dealer in Dover Ohio has been great as I had some warranty work. I had a battery go bad the first 3 months No charge repair .. had fuel basket they paid townig and all parts and labor N/C ..had heated grips go bad twice and no charges .. rear brake squeal ... pinched wire to the front fender light .. N/C for anything but my warranty is over in 3 months so I will be paying or doing my own from then on

2009 FLHRC vivid black

I went through some s&^% with the salesman when I bought my Road King this February..He made a promise of a delivery date and didn't come through and didn't return my phone calls. I sent in the comment card from the dealer and told them I wasn't happy.. The salesman called me later and wanted to know WTF and I told him.... I understand this is only a sale for them they sell dozens of bikes a month. But for me this is MY BIKE. my dream, my money, it's personal. The service dept is no different.. for them it's just another bike they work on them all day every day. They don't have an emotional attachment to the machine I do...If you don't get what you want go up the ladder to the service manager to the business manager to the owner if necessary and to MOCO... They will listen if you yell loud enough

This is one reason I don't buy new bikes (or cars)...the other being depreciation. The number of hoops you have to jump through to keep any vehicle warranty (not just Harley's) in force, and even then have claims denied, makes it worth the risk of buying a nearly new (<3000 miles) bike for half of what the dealer wants for a new one.

guess im lucky.. Bought the bike in may of 06.. In june I had a massive heart attack .. They saved me and i got mine back to the dealer at the 1k checkup.. Next summer and June again I crashed on a semi wet on ramp with fuel on it... Had an indy repair the bike to the tune of over 11k (got lucky with insurance).. I have not had any problems with my 06 and ill keep the thing because its that nice.. I didnt have a chance to use my 20% parts discount or the warranty because of the 2 items i listed .. but its a great scoot ...

What did I miss here...what does this have to do with the post? I hope this means something other than what it sounds like, and it sounds weard. Dud you worry me, but you sure know how to express yourself.
