Took my bike in for somethimg that I thought may have been an issue only to be told that was normal. Then I was presented with a bill. I asked what's this? Service writer said that becaused nothing was wrong that I had to pay. I told him that was not goimg to pay because the bike was under the 2 yr warrenty. He went talked to the service manager who said ok but, if I was to bring it back in for something that was normal that I would have to pay. I told the service writer that as long as it's under warrenty, anytime that I think something is not right that I wiil not be paying anyhting!!!!!!

I agree with what some of you have said.....there are good dealers and bad dealers in all brands. I have some good and bad experiences in town and on the road.....but my harleys have never had a warranty so i do all my own work...and when i get to something i am not sure about i have a couple friends that will help out...It always turns out good. And because i have done all my own work I always have somebody coming by and asking for me to do something....which most of the time i don't mind at all, it is fun and helps to build good friendships when you show them how to fix there own bikes....

Nope, sorry. I think in Finland have to be about one million males with that name. Quite common and definitely a finnish name though ;-)
Gotcha. I met the guy last year when I sold my Dyna. He buys used H-Ds, ships them to Europe and makes a killing on resale. T

I've always said the worst thing about owning an HD is the dealership.
I have 3 dealerships within 50 miles of me - 2 of them tried screwing me. When I had my evo, I wanted a fresh cam installed - dealership told me they would have to split and grind on the cases - even though it was a bolt in cam. Went to an independent wrench for the work.
Another dealership tried charging me $150 to install a new speedometer - went to an independent and was charged $24.
Now the only thing I MIGHT buy at a dealership is an oil filter. I see HD profits are down 91% - gosh, why don't I feel bad for them?
Belive me it is not just Harley dealers, I bought a brand new Yamaha V Star 650, a screw came out of the air cleaner cover, I told them I needed a new one, they wanted to charge me $3. for a new one, I told them it should be under warenty, not the cost of the screw but damn it I just spent $6K with them and they wouldnt spring for a screw that should not have fallen out, then one day after I got my Harley, a friend of mine and a friend of his went on a ride, the other guy had a Yamaha bought from the same dealer as I had gotten mine from, well he parked it in a ditch, I called a towe truck, told him not to start it up because we didn't know if water got inside, then I called the dealer to tell them we where bringing it in, they told me they where closing in an hour so we had better be there before that, couldnt believe it, I could see locking the door at closing time and telling us to knock on a side door or somthing but never expected better be here or forget it!

I was told by an HD dealer that I have NO warranty since I had aftermarket (non Harley)equipment installed on my 08?
Don't we all have some type of aftermarket mods and options?

So my PC-V and Rinehart pipes would cancel all warranty on my bike? I don't think so. According to the Magnusson-Moss Act, HD would have to prove that the 3rd party equipment actually created the problem.
Even more crusty, if you read what's on the box of the SERT, you'll see a disclaimer on warranty. Does this mean HD doesn't consider the Screaming Eagle Race Tuner being a HD part either?
This is baloney. Find another dealer.

It's not just Harley anymore folks, warranty sucks everywhere anymore. If you think the metrics are any better you are sadly mistaken. In the past week I have argued with Ford and Peterbilt over warranty, these units cost a hell of a lot more than our Harleys.I was told by managers at both dealerships warranty ain't what it used to be.Best defense is to buy used take care of the crap yourself.
