Sounds like operator error.
And a "related", in your words - error.

Still my TBW (and yours) will get you home. Where a broken cable will not.

17.5k on My 08 Ultra and I did'nt know I had TBW issues. I will get to the stealer right away, and have them fix it. They will probably tell me is operating normally.

You just proved yourself wrong...

The TBW is not programmable. The ECU is. The TBW is just an induction module. The ECU is a computer.

Therefore it was an ECU issue not a TBW issue.

I never said it wasn't. You guys are the ones that think that the "good old cable" is sooooo much more reliable than the TBW is.

I have bad news for you. The TBW will still work of one section of it breaks. Your "good old cable" won't. The TBW has build in redundancy.

i am very happy with the way the fly by wire works. and the cruise control is seamless, no herky jerky stuff going on at all. smooth.

oricko, tbw is throttle by wire. it's stock on 08 and newer harley touring models. it means that there is a stepper motor on the throttle body, and no more throttle cables. neat system.

TBW is Throttle By Wire, also known as Fly By Wire where the Throttle Body is controlled by electronic signals sent from the ECM as opposed to cables. In the "old days" bikes had accel and decel cables running from the throttle grip directly to the carb/throttle body. With TBW when you turn the grip it and sends an electronic signal to the ECM which sends another electronic signal to the Throttle Body.

Some folks prefer NOT to have another level of electronics (TBW) between their grip and the throttle body and prefer throttle by cable. Others realize that like electronic ignition and fuel injection, TBW is the way of the future and embrace it. Some have had problems with TBW and others have been problem free. Some feel TBW provides a "lag" between actuation and application and others are able to tune and adjust it out.

Over on HTT, some riders have reported broken wires INSIDE the insulation in the main harness as a reason for TBW problems. Overall HD seems to be having issues with some bikes. While some MAY be operator error, there is a track record of known TBW issues.
