Default Newbie Question..Can We Add Reverse?

I am a new owner of an '06 Ultra....great great bike...I am only 5'6" 150lbs....sometimes when I park the bike I can not for the life of me move it back......I can almost flat foot the bike....I do not think a lower seat will help....so I was wondering if reverse can be added? and if it can is it alot of $$$$$

or to all the small riders out there with an Ultra....if I get a lower seat...will it help me alot pushing the bike backwards?

Put a lowering kit on the rear and add a HD reach seat. It will help. But only so much, these bikes are heavy and even at 200lbs and 6foot I ofter have trouble backing my bike if it's up hill or there is something I have to roll over.

Yes..There are several reverse kits available, built mainly for sidecar rigs. They they could be installed on a bike without one. Hell...THe BMW K1200LT and the Goldwing both have reverse, why shouldn't a harley.

I had a Heritage Softail and it was around 700 lbs...never really had a problem with it.....I guess the extra 100lbs for the Ultra took it over the top for me LOL

I also lost around 30lbs...used to weigh 180...now 150.....better hit the gym..lift some weights

Short answere is Yes, you can add reverse. I don't know if you just add a gear or hole new tranny is needed but Harley does have it. It's in some Police bikes and bikes with side cars as mentioned.

BUT

It really won't help all that much if your not flat footed.

You can lower the bike with progressive shocks and springs up to 2". Don't let the dealer tell you different.

I did it two my 04 Road Glide and the thing road and handled awesome.

As you said you can get a lower seat. I'd recomend the Lepera line. Best I tried and I tried a lot of them. The thing with the lower seat that helps most is that they are narrower at the nose and bring your legs closer to the tank. There by putting your feet closer to the ground and more stable.

All these things would still be less then a new trans. Much much less. And more effective.
