This smells like a scam to me, no one would sell a RK for that, even if they wanted to unload it quick, they could get closer to 10k in a quick sale. I just had a friend sell his 04 RK for $10500 in this bad economy, because he needed the money.

Personally, I would be extremely suspicious of something like this. Even if it's legit, I wouldn't want it shipped and then hope the paperwork is right once it gets here. I'd be making arrangements to fly out to Montana an ride the bike home once the paperwork was completed. JMHO.

If it sounds too good to be true then it probably is. Call his nearest dealer and give them your credit card number. Then have the seller take it in and tell him if it passes a mechanics inspection consider it sold.
you are about to get scammed.... everything is wrong ..

Well, you wonder why I always dress in black,
Why you never see bright colors on my back,
And why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone.
Well, there's a reason for the things that I have on.
It's a scam. Tell him you'll go to Montana to meet his brother/uncle/cousin/father/mother/sister/best friend/whoever and that you'll bring cash. Chances are he'll either come up with some excuse why no one can meet you and that he prefers eBay or you'll never hear from him again. No one is stupid enough or desperate enough to sell a 2007 RKC for $4,800. NO ONE!!!!!
Just in case you do not know by now... That IS A DOCUMENTED SCAM on Craigslist. They have been doing those for bikes and cars for a long time... They are finally off of the California posts for Harley's (sometimes slip in, but CL must have finally done something)
I have seen many of them for sale, they are always under 5k because of federal money laws and criminal prosecution thresholds. The explanations are fabulous...and always funny to read--soldier in Iraq, domestic violence, moving out of country for a modeling job (that was a good one)... etc, etc, etc..
As you read their life story as a reason for the sale of the item.. just remember:
Craigslist. Only use it for a local sales where you can look at the item... and when you do go to look at it, pack. Never buy something in this fashion, it's too good to be true.
