Unhappy Speedo Trip Reset Button

On m 08 Electra Glide my speedo trip reset button lately has not been working, a bummer when on a trip and I want to reset to check gas mileage is this mechanical or electrical and do U have to remove fairing? Its always been finicky, lately It just wont switch between the A&B Trip modes and mileage displays! Still under warranty but Id like to fix It if its not too involved! I Could get it done on my 10K Service! Mo Money!! LOL, Thanks Bill

Sorry, can’t help you with the degree of difficulty in getting at the speedo reset button.

Mine didn’t work from day one, I could only read the odometer and could not switch between Trip A-B or miles to empty! Harley service replaced the rest button when I had the 1,000 mile inspection! It has worked fine ever since!

Save yourself the hassle and let them replace it. I would bet it isn't going to be fun for you if you try. Just my .02

replace the trip button. that will solve the problem. If you can take the outer faring off, then you can replace the switch, not that hard.

Unhappy Odometer Trip Reset Button

I took some steps towards replacing the Ododmeter Reset Button, took off the fairing and looked at it and the wayit ewas screwed into the inner fairing looks like a piece of cak, get a new one and plug it in!!
So I stripped one of the lower brass inserts Ill see about that later!?? I got the reset button from the dealer take it out of the package and there is no plug on the end that goes to the sppedo you have to cut and splice, oh no? Im a little squemish about as I say "The point of No Return" meaning if I replaced the ODO button and I was able to plug it in and It didint fix the problem then Id just plug back in the old one and let the dealer do it? Now if I cut and splice there is no going back if it doent fix the reset problem the dealer would say its my fault? help? thanks Bill

Unless your dealer is hundreds of miles away, just take it in. That's what the warranty is for. They'll do it for free and if you schedule it, I'm sure they can fix it while you wait.

Take to dealer. No sense in messing with this problem. Be much easier on you and will not void your warranty

Let the dealer do it. Tech love to blame owners for screwing up stuff they try to do.
Heck it's free, why not let them do it?

let the dealer do it. i got mine replaced by the dealer under warranty and it took about 15 minutes.
