That's the way I broke mine in. 3rd gear, wide open to about 4 grand then decelerate all the way down, repeat 10 or so times...............so far so good, but only 4800 miles to date.
Likewise! I was able to run mine up to between 4 and 5k rpms in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears. Currently, I'm at about 4500 miles and it's running great. I've not used a drop of oil that I can tell if that's any indication.
Only time will tell in the long run but so far, I've got no reason to think there's any issues.
