Default Powerlet

Powerlet makes great electrical connectors for powering accessories on your bike. I use them on all my rides.

I have the Supplemental 12v Power Point (91843-97) on my Road Glide and it works great. The instructions call for it to be mounted on the right side cover, and it has a really good plastic cap that seals the weather out. I use it to charge my phone and notebook computer while on tour. Plugs directly into the accessory harness that is under the seat on my '08 Road Glide. Only scary part was drilling a hole in the side cover - that took a bit of nerve!

This is the same part I used to make my power module. The question is where will you mount it? HD recommends drilling out your side cover and mounting it face up. I wasn't about to do that which is how I came up with my idea to make a power module with a quick disconnect that I could mount anywhere in the Tourpack. On your Road King, unless you're wanting to mount it somewhere permanently, I'd settle for putting inside your saddlebag. Good luck!

I made a few improvements to my original design for the 12v Power Module. The new model is more compact, case is made out of ABS plastic, a second disconnect has been added for easy removal of the Tourpack and a red LED power indicator has been added. Looks like OEM quality. I just finished making a couple, one for a riding buddy and the other for an HDForums member. I'll post a few pictures shortly.

I too just hard wired a pig tail on to the battery with a drop just outside by the side cover. When I needed to plug in the phone, Ipod, etc., just plug her in.... Pretty easy fix, and they don't draw much charging so you never need to worry about the battery going south....

Good solution you came up with. Funny...you'd think HD would have already figured this one out. But then as I've said before....look at how long it took them to make batwing air deflectors adjustable.

Hey Machpilot, I used the one you mentioned that says not for the RKC and it fit fine on the right side cover. It takes a little care when you line up the template but it is an easy add on. I plug my phone into only when needed but it works great.

I bought one of tda69's 12v Power Modules. It looks just like he shows in the picture. Installation is easy. If he is not in business doing something he is missing out. His customer service is second to none. He has emailed and called to follow-up to make sure that I was pleased. I couldn't be more please. Great product, great price, great customer service.
