Blah, blah, blah. No right or wrong answer here folks. Do what YOU want and don't tell others what THEY should do.

I'm sure that warranty cost you more than $200, and it's a good bet that Harley will end up with the rest of your money. They only sell extended warranties to make money because they know the odds are in there favor that you will never need in or at least the few repaires you do need won't exceed what you payed for it.
If they didn't make money on those 90% of the time they wouldn't sell them.

So what percent do you think they make money on selling bikes? 100%! WTF? Of course they make money doing it. You think they should lose money? This is a stupid comment. Again, if it is worth it to you, just like buying a bike, then it is worth it. If you don't think they should make money then why did you buy your bike? Geesus!

Bob,

Hehe - over 7 yrs of the warranty I'll log 200,000+ miles on this bike. What are the chances that NOTHING will go wrong that won't recoup my money spent on the warranty? I'd say over that much time it's almost guarunteed to pay for itself considering the mileage I rack up... The past 3 yrs in a row i've averaged 30k each so in my circumstance the odds lean towards me...

The miles I ride it's worth it in my case. Folks who log 5k a year? Probably not necessary at all cuz the 2 yr warranty the bike comes with should cover any bugs the bike might have that will show themselves pretty quickly.

PS: H-D probably cringes when a guy like me buys the warranty

Most warranty's remind me of Curtis Mathis TV's (are they still even around?). They cost about $200 or $300 more than a comparable TV but they were covered for 5 years. I can't remember ever having a TV that didn't, if it was gonna, crap out in the first year, which is standard warranty on most. How much "peace of mind" do you want to pay for?

That sums it up folks! Figure out if you want to buy the extended warranty, and if you want "peace of mind", then buy it. If you want to gamble like me, then spend the money on upgrades or something else.
