Default 06 ElectraGlide Classic

Hi All.
I'm new to the site and hope to pick up my new ride in the next month. I'm planning on the ElectraGlide Classic. I would be interested in knowing any problems you may have noticed. Also, any suggestions you can give would be much appreciated. Things like options to get, price I can expect to pay, etc.

Thanks for the help.

Good choice. I have a 2000 with about 65,000 miles on it. As far as options and accessories go, just go a little slow at first and realize that you're never really "done".

Just took delivery of an 06 EG Classic last week. I have 500 miles on it and all is Well. It is a March production Bike with the 25 degree injectors. I have absolutely NO issues with this bike so far .It is BONE Stock, No mods. I want to put 1000 miles on this bike before any up grades, if any. I like the bike the way it is now. I would like a little deeper exhaust sound. My only recommendation is to get a bike has been produced After Feb. 13 and has the new 25 degree injectors. Early 06s had 8 degree injectors. You will love the EG.......hdman

They (MOCO) has problems with the fork lock. Do a search and it will explain. Nice choice of scoot. Especially in VIVID BLACK.

Congratulation on your upcomming purchse! Is this your first Harley?

I bought my 05 EG Clasic almost a year ago and have about 5300 mileson it now.

for convienence I added;
cruise, removable tour pack hardware and a low sissy bar.

for cosmetis I added ;
chrome gauge trim rings, a plain chrome shift rod, and windsheild trim.

for performance I added;
stage 1 big bore kit with air cleaner and download, SE slip-ons

for safety I added:
air horn, headlight modulator,tailight modulator

i installed all these myself except the big bore kit which I had dealer install so it would be covered
under the factory 2 year warrenty. My dealer offers a 20% discount at time of sale so I used it for most
of these items and installed all of them myself. They dealer also used the gave me 20% off the big bore kit
as it was done with the same coupon at the time of sale.

I had very loud backfiring though exhaust on decel, sneezing through intake, surging, and ocasional stalling. Iin November I found this site and decide to add a Revtech DFO which cured all these problems and added performance. I love this thing.

Future mods include Vance and Hines dresser duals to get rid of that useless T pipe factory T pipe plumbing and
Hooker tune flow slip ons for their unique deep rumble and great sound.
Hog tunes speakers to replace the cheesy factory speakers.
A 9 inch windshield (factor windshield is 12 inch).

The bike came loadeed with chrome so I didn't ad much.

Personalizing your bike is one of the perks of owning a Harley.Congrats again!

Thanks all for the info.

To answer some stuff, this will be my first HD. I currently ride an 05 Suzuki Boulevard C50T. Nice bike. Not great....super...etc. But, nice. My wife will take over the metric and I'll finally have the HD I've wanted for 30 years. I chose the Classic because I wanted the advantage of the extra room should I go on 2-up rides with my wife. But then, I also wanted something similar to the RK. Finally, I wanted fuel injection and I preferred the black instead of silver engine. Hence, the EG. With the quick detach tour pak kit, I can have what I want in a matter of seconds.

Being my first HD, I'm interested in cost. What I mean is, with metrics and cars, you NEVER pay MSRP. And yet, I seem to see that most HD's go at, slightly above or possibly slightly below MSRP. I want to pay the stealer a proper price but, I don't want to experience the Brokeback Mountain feeling. I plan to work the deal this Saturday so any advice would be appreciated.

I have heard of people having coughing and sputtering problems. I see mentioned the use of the Revtech DFO. I will check into this. However, is this a common problem? Would the problem not be covered under warranty?
