Default Zumo vs Rider

This was a double post I'm sure, butcouldn't for some reason I was able to search backwards. I have a chance to get either a
TomTom Rider for free or a Garmin Zumo 550 for a $140.00. Any ideas from you GPS guru's would be appreciated.

Most will probably say the Zumo, but that Rider looks pretty nice, and actually looks comparable to the 550. If it's FREE....why not?

Heck, if you can get another freebie deal on another Rider, send one my way.

Free is good. I have the Zumo 550 and love it. And after using it I don't know, 140 bucks is a great deal for this unit too. Sorry, I know, no help to you.

Well the reason it's free is one of our parts suppliers had an incentive program going.I've been wanting to buy a GPS for a while, but was having trouble deciding on what to buy.I looked in the incentive book and they offered both. So now it's deciding which one, we have 3 TomTom's in our family and they work great, but when it comes to mounts and other issues dealing with a bike, I didn't just want to get a regular GPS.

I don't think you can beat the Zumo 550 - it comes with mounts for the bike and the car - works great on both...I have had mine for 6 months - can't beat the price. Also the Zumo is waterproof - is the other?

I just don't understand the need for a GPS on a bike, even in a car. Now on the boat in the ocean is another story.

Rider looks to be TomTom's unit designed to compete directly with the Zumo's.

Pretty nice.

they are both good units, and I have the Zumo 550. But the TomTom looks very competitive, and would be a great unit. The included Bluetooth headset with the TomTom is a nice accessory that would cost extra with the Zumo. I think I would go with the TomTom considering that it's free.

Well that's what I thought, but I've been on rides and found myself in the middle of knowhere and wondering what was the best way to get home. Also I plan this year on taking numerous trips out of state and not thinking about where I have to go or how far I am away from my destination would be nice.
