I know. I have one installed at my business and it's gone off a couple of times because of storms. I get a call, tell them noone should be there and the cops get there before I do. I'm 12 mins away.
I have a security system and they call you and if you do not answer they call your phone tree, not fast enough it the thug stays and your family is home.

So I use both the security system and the 45 for complete protection. The real hope is the security system sends thug to neighbor or scares them off when alarm goes off.

Just this week added Crimson Trace laser to the 45 and have not shot it yet but sure seems nice.

Bingo. Since I really hope I never have to use a gun against a person, I can hope that an alarm and dogs will scare off the BG. If they don't at least we've been awakened and prepared. The dogs will let me know where the BG is too. Our dogs are really small but it doesn't stop them from being very alert and noisy and all "tough" when something isn't right.

If none of that works on some druggie, he's going out feet first.

Thats what I'm saying JB,the gun owners here will take matters in in their own hands but these tv ads are giving women a false sense of security.Any woman could learn to shoot and control a .410 shotgun in my opinion.Accuracy is not as critical as a handgun and not much kick but still lethal.

I agree completely.
We have alarm, 200 lbs. of German Shephards (2 dogs)
Guns, (and we practice at the range.)
and we try to use common sense.

I have got my daughter and my wife comfortable and accurate with the handguns, but we also have shotguns for home defense.
