The Cavalry arriving just in the nick of time to save the hapless victims works great in the movies. However, in the real world it is up to the individual to provide for his / her own defense. Have a plan, teach each member of the family to safely handle and shoot a firearm. Practice with those firearms and do it often. Do not depend on someone else to save you from the bad guys, that’s your job.

Very well put, sir.

My thoughts are quite simple...if someone kicks my door in meaning myself or my family harm, they will leave my home in a body bag.

I agree with the OP on this topic. Those commercials are so out of touch. Like the criminal is going to get scared and runaway.....com'on man.

"This is Brinks Home Security, is everything okay?"
"No, someone tried to break into my home. But they were scared away by the alarm."
"Ma'am, do you want us to call the Police?"

Okay! Sign me up. I want that. Criminals are more afraid of that sound, then the Police sirens.

Like I tell anyone who wants to listen. How many times have you walked through a store, or mall parking lot. Heard the sound of a car alarm and kept walking.

You see just like car alarms. Home alarms have FALSE ALARMS too. After awhile it is just another background noise.

The TV add does nothing but lead the sheep into a false sense of security.

I agree with most. I have a security system as well. It is for the most part for when we are away. I have a 183 pound Rott/Mastiff and a wife with a badge AND a bad attitude!!!!!!!!! I am never quite sure who to fear more, the dog or her!!!!!

Alarm is there to wake me up when they break the glass. If they run away, fine. If not, they have a problem. If alarm didn't get their attention, the great big flash and loud bang will.

I'll see what I can do. Just to give ya an idea how big he is. I have an Amish made Dining Room table and when he sits beside it, he looks flat across it to see what you are eating!!!!!!!!! He can place his chin DOWN on it when he is allowed that close to it when we are at it!!! He can take a soccer ball in his mouth and pop it like a balloon when he wants. He can close his mouth completely around a softball.

Cool!,I know some people that have a mastiff, his bark alone would make most intruders think about looking for an easier target.
