Yes, it is; but worth it, IMO.
Best of luck on your selection.

I carry either a XD40 in a Fist #16 IWB or Galco Miami Classic shoulder rig and at times a K&G products fanny pack. If I'm wanting to pack light I carry a Taurus model 85 Ultra Lite in either a pocket holster or a cammera case style holster.

Wow, this thread is making me jealous. It takes an act of God to get a CCW in California. I favor round guns over semi autos. If I had the opportunity to make that decision, I think I would go with a S&W 329 Night Guard in 44 MAG. Great round in a great looking small frame revolver.

I carry a Glock 27 (.40) and during the summer I wear an Action Holster spandex holster under my t-shirt. Very concealed and I can get it easily if I need it.

Well, at least you can take solace in knowing that if you ever get killed for want of a gun, you were a good and law abiding citizen of Kalaforneea. Dead but law abiding.

Here in Illinois, even God can't get a CCW, only LEOs and Chicago politicians can.

I'm also an HK fan and have a P2000SK as well, but in 9mm. For me, I'm able to get back on target sooner on subsequent shots with 9mm instead of .40 or .45ACP, especially with a small carry gun like the SK. I also subscribe to the argument that placement is more important than caliber size.

With the latest generation of defensive ammuntion, any caliber of 9mm or larger will get the job done. This is assuming that, in a very stressful situation, you can hit your target.

As far as costs go, range ammuntion is definitely cheapest in 9mm. In fact, if you shoot regularly the cost difference becomes substantial. Defensive rounds, however, are fairly similar in price between 9mm, .40 & .45ACP.

You got to move to a rural county and then there's no problem getting a CCW. I got mine with ease. My carry is an XD .45 Compact in my Crossbeed Supertuck
