Default What makes a person a poser?

I did a search of threads but wasn't very successful at answering the question so I would like to get some opinions on the subject. What makes a person a poser? Why is that bad, if it is? What is wrong with being a poser? Is it the clothes(wearing skullcap, full leathers, goggles, fingerless gloves), what the bike looks like(gremlin bell, chrome, etc) , how they ride(lane splitting, burnouts) or something else? I guess if I am asking these questions that may make me a poser. I don't know. I really am interested in what you all think. Does it really matter? Thanks

After the first 2 replies I think I understand. Thanks

What is so wrong with people trying to be who they are not? Don't we all need some escape in our lives? Isn't that part of the whole thing?

+1. At some point in time, I've tried to be the dream of every mother in law. Short hair, clean shave, no alcohol, no fights, no women.

Then I turned 6 and had to go to school

If you worry about this kinda stuff when you ride ... or you worry about someone else when they ride ... what to wear/what not to wear according to other people's opinions, what the bike should/shouldn't look like according to other people's opinions, how you should be ridin'/not ridin' according to other people's opinions ... especially the opinions of strangers on an internet forum ... then you're probably a poser.

There is no such thing. It is without merit and any basis in fact. It is used by those who want to feel superior to others because they aren't satisfied with themselves.

Posing makes you a poser just like sucking a schlong makes you Richard Simmons.

I didn't say I was worried I just wanted to see what other peoples opinions on the subject were. I admit I am new to riding and to owning a Harley and I don't really care what others think about ME. I only questioned the label since I have seen so much and heard so much about it. Especially on this forum.
