a poser is someone who tries to tell you what you wear or how many miles you do in year classifies you as the poser...... or because you spend 25K on your new scoot and they old spent 8 K on thier used POS. makes them a poser.....A poser is someone telling you your a poser because you trailored your bike across country to attend a biker fest. A poser is someone who claims they are a real biker because they run with other bikers who belong to clubs....and think they know everything of what a poser really is....real bikers dont give a rats ass what you wear, how much you spend...or how you got there....the reason is because they are to busy riding to GIVE A RATTS ASS

A poser is someone who shows up at a dealership event (free food all day long, two bands, tent sale, etc) wearing brand spankin' new *everything*...vest, black pants tucked into new boots so it looks like the old Star Trek uniform pants sorta, white t-shirt, and get this...a wrist band-like thing with huge spikes on it (the spikes stood out maybe an inch and a half and there was probably 15 spikes on this thing), I guess he was lookin' to backhand someone in the face with it if they gave him any lip, LOL. I watch this twit poser walk around a little while and notice he's got some kind of rocker on the back of the vest. It has A.R.M. and a picture of a bottle of booze, some pills and a pot leaf with the red circle and line through it over the picture. Him and another guy and his gf all came in a car, but felt they needed to 'dress up' to look like bikers so they could go around and tell people not to drink booze, I guess.

Depends on what they are posing to be. Some of those folks that you encounter around the dealerships and HOG groups are amusing---all decked out with a bizillion pins and patches. I know it's all in good fun, but some guys/gals can take it to an extreme. It's less about riding and more about a fashion show to some. But again...it really all depends upon what specifically they are posing to be. Most real bikers aren't going to give a crap unless you are trying to come off like you are a member of a 3 Piece Patch MC or wearing a rival club's Support Gear. If they are trying to pose as if they are in an MC then that is another story, like Ignatz describes above. I see that often.

I'm going through the process with a three-piece MC and trust me...you earn those rockers. An MC is a brotherhood where people live for the club and for each other. It's not a good idea to walk into a bar or elsewhere with fake junk emulating that or wearing Support Gear one would buy on E-Bay to try to look cool. That stuff can have real consequences. Take a look at a book called "The Biker's Handbook" by Jay Barbieri. It has an amusing chapter or two that discuss this very topic.

But heck...I'm not trying to be the fashion police. Go out ride, have fun, focus on yourself, and enjoy the ride. If you don't like a certain group then leave.

I work as a Truck Driver in the Entertainment business and have worked with a few posers. They are the ones that go to the local bars or restaurants and stores when we are doing a show someplace wearing their "Crew shirt" with a lanyard hanging around their neck with a dozen All Access laminates from show's they have been on in the past hanging from it.

They are also the ones that keep all their Laminates with them in their truck and have them hanging in the window for all to see when they park in a truckstop someplace. It's kind of comical really.

I do have to admit though....I have seen it help a few of them to get laid from time to time although I don't know that I'd want to bunk with some chick that is only willing because I'm "with the band" but oh well....to each his own I guess.

My point is that there are posers in many walks of life. Not just among Bikers.

Posers are easy to spot and hard to define. This forum has many. Life has many. When you see the real deal the posers pop out like reflective tape in bright light.

Who cares, really. Ride with who you want to ride with. Don't worry about the rest.
