I was at my local HD Dealership this past weekend. In conversation with one of the parts guys, I asked if I were to upgraded my mufflers from the stock ones to a Screaming Eagle pair, would I need to re-map, or do anything else. (To be honest, I don't even know what that means. But I get it from reading this forum.) He replied that I did not need to do any of that, did not need to change out the breather, or anything else. But he did say I would need to have the bike put on the computer to reflash it with the new codes, and the computer was preprogrammed with these codes and would upload them to my bike. He mentioned that there was a 150.00 cost to reflash it.
He then mentioned a pair of mufflers he had just gotten in, and a customer that was there that just installed the same set. He hooked me up with the guy. He brought me out to his bike to show me them and let me hear them. They sounded great, are not too loud.. just what Iam looking for. I want a good sound, and to get cages around me to know I am nearby. He told me he installed them himself, and it was easy. Just buy a new set of clamps. When I asked him about reflashing the system he laughed and said that all you need to do is take the fuse out, or disconnect the battery for a few seconds. Then to reattach the power and it will do a system check and reset the codes to the proper settings.
So my question to the group, if I do get this set (linked below).. does anyone know this to be the way to go? Disconnect the battery and the system will reset the codes correctly?

If you upgrade the mufflers, I would do the stage 1 upgrade you would need the the ecm flash.
I have never heard of disconnecting battery to reflash. This guy did not understand what you were asking or he just doesn't know what he is talking about.
The hd flash on the 2010 models does not change the AFR.It only increases the rev limiter from 5500 to 62000.This was confirmed by John at Harley Davidson tech support in Milwaukee.Regards,Tom
